The second time Hangvető won the organising rights of WOMEX was in 2020, however, due to the international restrictions and health hazards posed by the pandemic, the event had to take place in an unusual form. WOMEX 20 became a hybrid festival with online showcases, conferences and networking events, but also with live showcase concerts streamed from Müpa Budapest for a global audience to follow.
